About Us

Who is AIFS?

Our mission is to bring the world together

For over 60 years, AIFS has created life-changing opportunities for young people across the globe. As one of the world’s oldest, largest, and most respected cultural exchange organisations, we believe that building global understanding is more important than ever. Through immersive cultural and educational programs, we equip our participants with the skills to thrive in our diverse, interconnected world.

Our History

Since 1964…

AIFS is founded in Cincinnati, Ohio

The American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS) is founded by Sir Cyril Taylor, Roger Walther and Doug Burck. They were inspired by Cyril’s soon-to-be wife Judy, a high school French teacher who wanted to take her class to France for the summer but was unable to do so as no US organisation offered this kind of service.
