Step 1. Be informed.
It's very important that you understand what the Au Pair in America program is all about before you sign up. We want to make sure you have all of the details. Make sure you read each page of our website, visit our blog site, request a brochure and email/call our friendly team in the Sydney office if you have any questions.
Step 2. Complete your online application.
When you're ready, head to our application site called My Au Pair in America to create your online profile: www.myaupairinamerica.com
Once you have registered, you will have a 'to do' list to follow which includes answering several questions about yourself and uploading some photos and documents.
Step 3. Attend an interview.
Once your online profile is completed, you'll be invited to attend an interview with our team in Australia. We have several interviewing staff located in most major cities and regional areas.
Step 4. Match with a host family.
If you've passed your interview and completed your online profile in full you move forward to the matching process (the most exciting part!) which is when you speak to potential host families and decide on your placement. During this process, it is important to ask each host family as many questions as possible, especially relating to topics that are important to you.

Most information about each host family can be found in their 'dear au pair' letter which you'll be able to read, but it's still good to ask questions and make sure you feel comfortable with the family you choose to match with.
Step 5) Obtaining your visa.
After you've chosen your host family, we will move quickly to organize your visa paperwork and assist you through the process of applying for your Cultural Exchange au pair visa. Obtaining your visa can take anywhere from 2 - 6 weeks, depending on how busy the consulate is and what appointments are available. We will provide more information regarding the visa when the time comes.
